I know you aren't allowed to / don't know as much about the MCU, but you said Ant-Man hasn't been able to carry a solo series in 50 years, yet he's getting a movie. Any speculation as to why this might be? Not asking for spoilers or anything, I'm simply curious.

brevoortformspring answered:

Blade got three movies, and he’s never been able to hold down a successful comics series. Sometimes a character will simply work better in another medium.

In the case of Ant-Man, the Studios guys clearly feel that they’ve got a take and an approach that will make for a good film. Also, I think that the impact of a character being small, and the manner in which that would change your perception of the world around you, can likely be communicated more viscerally on the screen than it can on the printed page.

Or maybe the Ant-Man film will be a flop. Who knows? We’ve tried a bunch of different ANT-MAN comics projects over the years, and no doubt will try again in the future.

And it’s not like a single movie, or three, is comparable to an ongoing series.  Just because a character isn’t good for a monthly grind for years on end, doesn’t mean they can’t have a GREAT single issue/movie storyline.  Or three, in Blade’s case.
