I’m not sure what you’re specifically referring to, but the fans voting on whether SECRET WARS is a reboot or not isn’t going to change what it is one bit–so it’s a fun fan conversation, but it’s hardly Democracy in action.
Oh *god*. REALLY? This is today’s out of context quote, I guess.
This snark is based off a recent interview Axel Alonso gave where he said that it will be up to the fans to decide whether or not Secret Wars is a reboot or not.
Which also included around that statement, which is important clarification, that he wasn’t going to debate just what a ‘reboot’ is, or a retooling, or what’s what in all the geekery verbiage that we love to throw around, and that it will be up to each person reading the event and beyond to decide what they want to call it.
There’s NOT going to be a ballot in Secret Wars #5 saying, “DO WE REBOOT THE UNIVERSE?? YOU DECIDE!!” He’s saying that whatever word you want to put to it after the whole thing is done, well, whatever works for ya!
Alternately, if the majority of fandom, after the fact, decide the best word to describe what we’re seeing as the new Marvel Universe is “reboot”, well then maybe it’s a reboot. But maybe it won’t be. Maybe we’ll see it and say it’ssomething else.
